With Operation Second Wind you can; with a minimum 320 hour a year commitment (part-time) you could receive a “living allowance stipend” plus an education award at the end of your service to be use toward student loans or continuing education for doing good work in the community, if you are 55 or older you can even assign the education award to a direct decedent. Bridging AZ is working with Mesa United Way to offer full and part time positions. It works like the PeaceCorps but you would work on domestic issues right here in Mesa Arizona. Full time positions (minimum 1,700 hours a year) start in March 2017, applications being accepted NOW. Pay (living allowance stipend) $910 per month plus an additional $200 for living expenses and $5,775.00 education award. Part-time positions are a minimum of 10 hours per week and you can receive a stipend of $100-$200 per week plus portion of the education award.
The AmeriCorps loan forbearance benefit allows members to postpone regular monthly loan payments while serving as an AmeriCorps member.
