The Hope Chest
Reduce…Reuse…Recycle…
The Bridging Hope Chest provides house wares to agencies that serve families transitioning out of temporary housing. Every week, hundreds of items are donated by retailers to the Hope Chest. By participating in the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle initiative, retailers receive special tax incentives for donating overstock and returned inventory.

On Friday mornings, agencies are allowed to identify up to one-hundred (100) items averaging approximately Twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500) worth of house wares and furnishings to distribute to families they serve, FREE of charge.

Families transitioning out of temporary housing typically go without house wares and furnishings for weeks, sometimes months at a time. By making these house wares and furnishings available to agencies in the community, families save thousands of dollars of out-of-pocket expense, allowing them to establish a comfortable home much faster than they would otherwise. Every dollar saved allows agencies to provide greater levels of support to their clients on a consistent basis.

In 2009, the Bridging Hope Chest distributed over 50,000 items.

The Hope chest provides quality household items, furnishings and small appliances for over 100 social service agnecies.
